مدينة الجسور والسفن تعد هامبورغ مدينة محدودة من حيث المساحة ويغلب عليها الطابع المستوي وكثرة القنوات المائية والبحيرات، ويصل أعلى ارتفاع إلى حوالي فوق سطح البحر. يمر في هامبورغ عدة ً مترا 116 أنهر أشهرها نهر الألبة الذي ينقسم إلى فرعين اثنين شمالي وجنوبي قبل اختراقه لهامبورغ وقبل أن ، ليصب في النهاية على ً يغادرها يتوحد فرعيه مجددا كم في بحر الشمال، وتتواجد معظم أجزاء 110 بعد ميناء هامبورغ على الضفة الجنوبية للنهر حيث ترتبط الضفتان ببعضهما من خلال جسور هائلة وكثيرة بلغ جسر، مما يعني أنها المدينة الأوروبية 2500 عددها الأولى من حيث الجسور، إذ يزيد عدد جسورها عن جسور امستردام ولندن وفينيسا مجتمعين!. الموقع الجغرافي المتميز يجعل من مدينة هامبورغ ً ومحورا ً تجاريا ً نقطة مركزية طبيعية للنقل ومركزا لتنظيم العمليات ليس بالنسبة لأوروبا الوسطى والشرقية والغربية فقط، بل بالنسبة لآسيا وأمريكا ليحتل مرتبة مهمة ضمن مراكز الاستيراد ً أيضا والتصدير الرائدة في المنطقة. الميناء ..المتحف في موانئ العالم، ً قد لا يتكرر هذا المشهد كثيرا إلا أنه في ميناء هامبورغ فالأمر يختلف، فقد امتد المشهد اليومي للسفن والباخرات والمراكب وهي تغادر وتصل ميناء المدينة لأن يصبح أحد المشاهد السياحية العالمية التي لا يمكن تكرارها، فتأتي الوفود السياحية للوقوف في الصباح الباكر على سور مدخل الميناء ومراقبة الرحلات البحرية وعندما تشرع السفن بالدوران فإن ذلك يمثل أهم المظاهر الساحرة فيها. الذي تبلغ مساحته يغطي ً ويضم الميناء أيضا صالحة ² كم 64.80 منها ² كم 73.99 مساحة للاستعمال مرافق ثقافية وترفيهية راسخة، حيث ل الألمان تلك القوة الاقتصادية والحركة التجارية ّ حو إلى متحف مفتوح، بل إلى متاحف، فمدينة تعتبر ً المستودعات التاريخية (شبايشر شتادت) مثلا للعديد من المتاحف ومراكز الترفيه المختلفة ً موطنا كما تعد منازل التجار البديعة على ضفتي نهر الإلبه ومجمع (شبايشر شتادت) التاريخي الضخم شهادة على تاريخ مدينة هامبورغ الحرة الهانزية. 125 يمتد عمر مدينة المخازن التاريخية إلى أكثر من ذات نكهة خاصة، ً ، مما يجعلك تعيش أجواء ً عاما ويعتبر هذا المجمع التاريخي أكبر مجمع لمخازن السلع في العالم، حيث يتم هنا تخزين بضائع ذات قيمة عالية كالشاي والكاكاو والقهوة والتوابل في تحميل البن ً والتبغ فهو الميناء هو الأول عالميا بالإضافة إلى العديد من المنتجات الأخرى، كما يوجد فيها أكبر مخزن للسجاد الشرقي في العالم، وخلف الحائط الضخم لمدينة المخازن يمكنك أن تتمتع بجو رومانسي بين قنوات المياه الجارية وأبنية العصر الغوطي والسطوح الموشورية والأبراج الغريبة الشكل. ولا تكتمل زيارة هامبورغ دون زيارة سوق السمك التقليدي التاريخي (فيش ماركت) إذ تسير الحشود

There is no doubt that we are visiting an ancient city and a port of global importance, despite the challenges the port of Hamburg faces in the increasing global economic movement and the change of the international transport network and the emergence of what is known as giant carriers remains the first port in the global sense.
